Holistic healthcare with our lifestyle health programme

Health and wellbeing is more than just visiting the doctor when feeling unwell. Known as lifestyle medicine, the aim is to develop healthy habits in day-to-day life. Fertifa’s lifestyle health programme helps individuals prevent the development of long-term health conditions and manage existing chronic conditions, alongside medical intervention.

Supporting our patients, every step of the way.

Rates of heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer are increasing. Active prevention of the development of chronic health conditions is the best way to ensure you live well for longer. Our lifestyle health programme takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, addressing the 6 pillars of lifestyle medicine: exercise, nutrition, risky behaviour, mental wellbeing, social interaction, and sleep.

Impact

65% of adults in the UK are considered overweight or obese, which is a major risk factor for heart disease.

Losing just 5% of body weight is associated with significant improvements in risk factors for heart disease, and regular exercise can reduce the risk of developing heart problems by up to 35%. Fertifa offers personalised nutrition, exercise and weight loss support plans to help individuals sustainably lose weight for long term benefits.
Impact

Worldwide rates of type 2 diabetes have doubled since 1990.

Losing just 5% of body weight can significantly reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes, and regular physical activity can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 50%. Fertifa supports individuals who are at high risk or have already been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, though personalised plans that include dietary changes, activity plans and GLP-1 prescriptions where appropriate.
Impact

Rates of Colorectal Cancer (cancer of the large bowel, colon and rectum) have increased in people under 50 by an average of 2% per year, for the last 30 years.

Risk factors for colorectal cancer include diet, being overweight, smoking, and lack of physical activity. However, adhering to a healthy diet and regular moderate exercise can reduce risk of colorectal cancer by up to 31%. Fertifa helps educate individuals on how to improve lifestyle to lower their risk of developing cancers and offers advice and support on high-risk activity, food, and lifestyle factors that can increase the risk of developing cancers.
Impact

Around 1 in 5 women over the age of 50 have osteoporosis, increasing to 1 in 2 women over the age of 80.

Regular physical activity and weight-bearing exercises help strengthen bones and prevent the development of osteoporosis. Fertifa educates individuals on the importance of building weight bearing exercises into your routine from a premenopausal age, and offers patients advice and support on how to do this effectively, along with other supplements, dietary changes or medications that can help prevent osteoporosis
