Stonewall's LGBTQI+ Insight Survey found that 36% of respondents who had children experienced barriers or challenges when starting their family. One in five of those stated that the greatest barrier or challenge was the high cost of private fertility treatment.

LGBTQ+ people currently face significant barriers when it comes to accessing fertility treatment. It's the responsibility of employers to ensure that there is support in place for all paths to parenthood, including adoption, surrogacy, and shared parental leave.
